"The training supplied by LTF in addition to the learning materials used to support instruction [is] superb. … Perhaps more importantly, by embracing the LTF philosophy for the first time in decades our vertical teams of teachers are communicating and helping shape the success of our graduates."

Ed Yergalonis, Assistant Superintendent Rahway Public Schools, New Jersey

Jonathan Edquid

Middle School Science Coordinator

Jonathan first became aware of LTF while teaching in the Houston Independent School District as the recipient of a Michael and Susan Dell Foundation grant. He recalls that "the strategies and resources that LTF provided helped my students engage in their learning and at the same time prepare themselves for the rigors of advanced science courses." When the opportunity to become a consultant arose, "I jumped at the chance to help other educators' students the way LTF helped mine."

Asked what he appreciates most about LTF Jonathan says, "I love engaging other teachers in a meaningful dialog about the teaching and learning process. I love to learn about how other educators approach the content and the unique lessons they create. Teachers guard their time religiously, and rightly so, but we also need time to learn from each other. Laying the Foundation affords teachers that opportunity.

With a BA in Biology from the University of Texas, Jonathan has six years of experience in middle grades science and five years as a Gifted and Talented teacher. In addition to leading his sixth grade cluster, Jonathan served on his school's data analysis committee and designed and maintained the school website before joining Laying the Foundation full time in June 2010 as the Middle School Science Coordinator.
