"I believe that the LTF materials challenged the students in a way that they hadn't been challenged before, and the assessments, in terms of the synthesis questions for the labs and the unit assessments themselves, made the difference. Students were moved away from memorization and towards understanding—and this helps in the MCAS."

Barbara Plonski, Science Curriculum Director, Milton Public Schools (on why Milton students saw a 10% jump in Proficient on 2009 MCAS)

Lynn Byars

IT Director

When Lynn joined LTF in 2005, she was extremely excited about working at an organization with such an inspiring mission. She loves the opportunity to help positively impact education – and being surrounded by like-minded people who share this vision. Lynn plays an important role in enhancing LTF operations and services through technology. When asked what she most enjoys about her role at LTF, she replied, “I enjoy supporting the rest of the LTF staff. I get the chance to assist LTF employees by putting technology and information in their hands, allowing them to focus more on the mission of LTF.”

Since starting at LTF, Lynn is most proud of streamlining the many different components and processes associated with YES assessments. Says Lynn, “The logistics of dealing with administering 150,000+ assessments in a 2-week period do not leave a lot of room for error. I’ve improved many procedures for collecting and reporting information that allows for more accurate and faster results with less manpower.”

Lynn brings over 15 years of information technology experience to LTF, with specialized expertise in data and reporting systems. She is a Dallas native with a bachelor's degree in Information Technology.
