"I plan on using one lesson a week. All of the foundational lessons will be done at some time. The plant science and physiology ones will be done in my advanced biology class. The cell ones and the genetics ones will be used in sophomore biology. Many of the labs I currently do may be replaced by one or more of the LTF lessons."

Science Teacher, South Dakota

Paul Hightower

Science Content Editor

Paul joined LTF in 2010 as part of the company’s transition to electronic and extensible media formats for their traditional printed educational content. His background working both in the private IT sector as well as the publishing industry brings a fresh outlook to a nonprofit primarily populated from within the public and private education world.

When asked about his experience at LTF, Paul reflects on the differences and advantages of the nonprofit environment. “It’s refreshing to work with people who value teaching and education over the highly competitive, high-pressure corporate realm.” Always an advocate for quality, he appreciates the priorities of LTF and their willingness to embrace and adopt new technologies.

Although he does not have any public teaching experience, Paul is the author of several historical biographies for children and continues to pursue his writing interests in science, technology and the history of science. His prior work history includes editorial projects with commercial journals and textbook publishers specializing in a variety of medical and technical subjects.

Paul holds a BS in Applied Physics with a minor in Mathematics from the University of Texas at Arlington, including a significant amount of graduate work with a specialty in computer simulation of physics events. He is also a staff member of Fort Worth’s Noble Planetarium, assisting in the ongoing design and presentation of astronomy shows.
