English Specialist II
Rita came to LTF in 2003 after teaching Language for 27 years. She loves the opportunity to empower Pre-AP teachers with creative teaching strategies, as well as “working with an intelligent and professional group of trainers who are willing to share, gather and critique.” Since joining LTF, Rita has found helping and encouraging a number of new teachers in Houston (including those part of Teach for America and UTeach programs) especially meaningful – and has even encountered former students who are now teaching! When asked about her favorite part of her current role at LTF, Rita responded: “I enjoy working with teachers on difficult concepts; we have the ability and opportunity to clear up foundational information that ultimately puts educators across districts ‘on the same page.’”
The LTF mission reflects Rita’s core belief that “we must all share a genuine concern for the well-being of others.” She recognizes that “as a nation we can remain strong when we are united in hopes and dreams, abilities and opportunities. Education is one factor that can promote unity and excellence for us all.”
Rita holds a BA and MA and is a retired San Antonio ISD instructor. She also served as a middle school assistant principal.
