Introducing the STEMPREP Project for Minority Junior High Students

In 1990, SMU alumnus Moses Williams saw a need for an increased number of minority students in biomedical research fields and did something about it—he started the STEMPREP Project, a revolutionary training paradigm modeled after the longitudinal training used for preparing Olympic athletes.

This video best explains this innovative project, which boasts a 90-plus percent retention rate:

At this time, applications are open for the summer program component, hosted by SMU, for minority 7th and 8th graders who are interested in careers in STEM or medicine. The application for admission, as well as further information about the STEMPREP Project, may be found on the Distance Learning Center website. Teachers, please pass this information along to your students and parents!
