Let’s Solve This: ExxonMobil & NMSI’s campaign promotes investment in STEM education

This past weekend during the 2012 Masters Golf Tournament, a compelling series of ads aired on TVs across the country. Thanks to the sponsorship of ExxonMobil, the National Math and Science Initiative (NMSI) was highlighted in these commercials as being THE organization with the power to revive America’s education system, particularly as it relates to academic performance in areas of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).

A few of these ads inspire viewers by first presenting some not-some-great data about our students’ performance scores and then by listing solutions, particularly emphasizing a nation-wide investment in teachers.

One ad directly speaks to the amazing work that NMSI is doing — efforts of NMSI programs like LTF and APTIP in high schools in six states have amounted to the result of a whopping 138 percent increase in AP test scores.

The final call to action of each ad? A simple “Let’s Solve This.” For more information, viewers are encouraged to visit www.exxonmobil.com/letssolvethis and donate to NMSI.

Below are a couple of the commercials. Once you’re finished watching them, please share this blog post with colleagues who may have missed seeing the ads if they aren’t golf enthusiasts.

"This is very good, and motivating, so I shared it with my co-workers. One thing I do is I pray over my classroom, my students and the faculty every day. I pray my students have listening ears and a learning heart. I also pray that I will have the patience I need and the words to effectively teach. " Read more
