LTF CEO Dave Saba Talks Common Core and ELCs

“Educator engagement in the implementation of Common Core State Standards is critical if we really want to see a quantum leap in college readiness,” writes LTF CEO, Dave Saba, in a guest post for education blog Getting Smart.

In the post, he discusses the contract awarded to NMSI’s LTF program by PARCC to help train hundreds of teacher leaders and to create the Educator Leader Cadre (ELC). Dave explains that the ELC will be a group of educators from the 24 PARCC states who will focus their training to become experts on the standards and assessments in their respective states.

But that’s not all the ELCs are hoping to achieve.

One of their goals is to reach out and help train the other 1.6 million teachers in their states, a challenge that LTF is ready to help them meet. “[But] how do you reach 1.6 million teachers through technology with a limited budget” Dave asks, “on a contract that ends after 29 months?”

By opening up the resources.

Listing several technological innovations, Dave highlights how LTF is going to help the ELC – and their 1.6 million teachers – by creating open resources using open source servers at PARCC.

You can read more about these resources in the rest of Dave’s post here

"This is very good, and motivating, so I shared it with my co-workers. One thing I do is I pray over my classroom, my students and the faculty every day. I pray my students have listening ears and a learning heart. I also pray that I will have the patience I need and the words to effectively teach. " Read more
