One of the really cool labs found in the LTF Biology activities is Light Dark, Does It Really Matter.

In the second part of the lab, students use manipulatives to construct the thylakoid membrane found within the chloroplast. It also introduces the students to photosystems.
In the most recent issue of Science,  a group of researchers were recognized for their work on photosystem II.  The interesting point made in the article was that the boxy center structure of this protein is virtually the same in all photosynthetic organisms. Sometimes there is only one way to skin a cat!  Furthermore the article points out that the  most successful artificially created catalysts for splitting water into oxygen and hydrogen share this molecular design.
