"The coordination of concepts, examples, and syllabi between the grade levels is so useable and flexible. The Skill Progression Charts create a framework which will help English Vertical Teams tremendously, guide new teachers, and most importantly, make 'equity and excellence' available to more students. I'm so impressed! Bravo!"

Mary Fry, English Teacher

Romeo and Juliet

Included on this page is a sample vocabulary lesson based on Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. This lesson includes individual vocabulary lessons, sentence completion tests, a multiple choice test, and an analytical writing assignment. Teachers may teach 10 words at a time, giving the student only 10 definitions and 10 sample sentences. This makes it convenient to print only one lesson at a time. The multiple choice test is cumulative, including words from all lists.

Similar tests based on other novels and plays are being developed and will be included on the protected Laying the Foundation website. Teachers who have participated in LTF training have password access to this protected site.
